【摘要】:Flatwisecompressivestrengthandmodulusarefundamentalmechanicalpropertiesofsandwichcoresthatareusedindesigningsandwichpanels.Deformationdatacanbeobtained,andfromacompleteforceversusdeformationcurve,itispossibletocomputethecompressivestressatanyappliedforce(suchascompressivestressatproportionallimitforceorcompressivestrengthatthemaximumforce)andtocomputetheeffectivemodulusofthecore.Thistestmethodprovidesastandardmethodofobtainingtheflatwisecompressivestrengthandmodulusforsandwichcorestructuraldesignproperties,materialspecifications,researchanddevelopmentapplications,andqualityassurance.Inordertopreventlocalcrushingattheedgesofsomehoneycombcores,itisoftendesirabletostabilizetheedgeswithasuitablematerial,suchasathinlayerofresinorthinfacings.Flatwisecompressivestrengthdatamaybegeneratedusingeitherstabilizedspecimens(reportedasstabilizedcompressionstrength)ornon-stabilizedspecimens(reportedasbarecompressionstrength).Itiscustomaryaerospaceindustrypracticetodeterminecompressionmodulusonlywhenusingstabilizedspecimens.Factorsthatinfluencetheflatwisecompressivestrengthandshallthereforebereportedincludethefollowing:corematerial,methodsofmaterialfabrication,coregeometry(cellsize),coredensity,specimengeometry,specimenpreparation,specimenconditioning,environmentoftesting,specimenalignment,loadingprocedure,andspeedoftesting.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofcompressivestrengthandmodulusofsandwichcores.Thesepropertiesareusuallydeterminedfordesignpurposesinadirectionnormaltotheplaneoffacingsasthecorewouldbeplacedinastructuralsandwichconstruction.Thetestprocedurespertaintocompressioninthisdirectioninparticular,butalsocanbeappliedwithpossibleminorvariationstodeterminingcompressivepropertiesinotherdirections.Permissiblecorematerialformsincludethosewithcontinuousbondingsurfaces(suchasbalsawoodandfoams)aswellasthosewithdiscontinuousbondingsurfaces(suchashoneycomb).1.2Thistestmethoddoesnotcoverthedeterminationofcompressivecorecrushproperties.ReferenceTestMethodD7336/D7336Mfordeterminationofstaticenergyabsorptionpropertiesofhoneycombsandwichcorematerials.1.3ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.3.1Withinthetexttheinch-poundunitsareshowninbrackets.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
